Yellowstone Park Travels

We had a wonderful day at Yellowstone Park today. Drove 100 miles to get to Old Faithful Geyser in Yellowstone Park from our campsite in Jackson, Wyoming. We drove around about 255 miles altogether around Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone Nat. Park. Saw 2 moose, elk in herds 4-5 buffalo, 5 deer, a squirrel and a chipmunk. The mountains are gorgeous...the rivers amazing. You just can't capture it in a photo!! You could spend a whole week touring Yellowstone Park. I was very disappointed not to see Yogi Bear nor Boo-Boo. Most everything in the Park is already closed and the final closing is tomorrow Oct. 15th!! We are leaving here tomorrow am for Salt Lake City Utah area.

It was 29 degrees F here this am. We are hoping to get into some warmer weather soon!!

Hope you are all well.

Love Kim and Linda

Greetings from S. Dakota

Hello dear family...and friends !!! We are having a wonderful time.

Today we arrived in a lovely park in S. Dakota near Mt. Rushmore...in a town called Hill City, in the Black Hills. We have been driving 450-500 miles a day!!! The truck is very comfortable and we stop often to get gas....piddle....have lunch in the trailer and set up camp before it gets dark. It's been great!!

We drove about 200 mi. today across the plains of S,Dakota....past the Badlands and now are resting in the Black Hills. We drove over to see the unfinished sculpting of Crazy Horse....carved in the Mtn. It's amazing!! One man started it in 1948 ...and now since he died in 1982 his family is working on completing it. ( His wife and 7 of his 10 children) It took him 2 yr. to build a set of wood steps to climb the top.

Tomorrow we are taking a train ride thru' the Black Hills and will tour around Mt. Rushmore!!

Today was sunny and hot.....78 degrees F...but very breezy. We are quite high here, around 6,000 ft.

We will probably head out on Sunday.....towards Yellow Stone Park. It's about 500 miles from here.......we'll prob. break it up into 2 days.

Many of the parks around are already closed..... but we have had no trouble finding a vacancy in the ones that are open!! Mostly older, retired people with the giant buses and towing cars are the tourists. The T-shirt/ souvenir shops and sights are very empty. However, they're still not giving things away...price wise!!! ha!!

Hope all is well with you all. We miss you!!!!
Love and hugs......Kim and Linda.

Here are a few photos of what we've been seeing!!!
